Four seats are for Indian candidates and two for Malays in the 13th GE, says Boo Cheng Hau, dismissing allegations of three members who called him racist.
PETALING JAYA: Johor DAP chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau dismissed allegations that he is anti-Indian and a racist.
“The allegations against me are baseless and unfair. It only reflects their own short falls,” said Boo, in response to three Johor DAP members who staged a protest against him yesterday.
Taman Nesa, Skudai branch member K Murugan and two others made their unhappines with Boo known at the DAP national conference held in Shah Alam yesterday.
Wearing white T-shirts and holding placards, they claimed that Boo favoured the Chinese over the Indians and labeled him a racist.
Boo said that he believed that Murugan was influenced by outsiders.
“Murugan has been an active member the past two years and the other two were former PPP members who joined DAP,” said Boo who is Skudai assemblyman and state opposition chief.
Contrary to the allegations against him, Boo said that DAP Johor would be fielding four Indian candidates in the 13th general election, depending on the ongoing seat negotiations.
“At the moment, two state seats and two parliamentary seats or three state seats and one parliament seat would be offered to Indian candidates from the party,” Boo said.
Similarly, one parliament seat and one state seat will be allocated for Malay candidates.
Boo said that he did not want to announce this earlier as he did not want to labelled as a ‘DAP warlord’ because the final decision is made by the party’s central executive committee.
