Bite My Music Global Awards is the World Cup of Indie Music and comprised of thousands of participants from over 50 countries. This special accolade goes to individuals in the international music circuit who have driven and made extraordinary efforts to help champion, support and expose independent and unsigned musicians.
Musician, organiser,stage manager, MC. (aka Rock Mum, Goddess of Rock and even “Godmother of Rock”), and the driving force behind The Underground. Described by Time Magazine as “Chris B—the tattooed fairy godmother of the Hong Kong scene and the ‘face’ of The Underground.
“Oh my God! I’m so overwhelmed with shock. Have I really done enough to deserve this award from Bite My Music? Thank you so much! I feel very very honoured to receive it and will continue to promote and champion indie acts and give them opportunities to perform, to create, to follow their heart when it comes to music,” said Chris B.
The Underground Hong Kong is Hong Kong’s premier indie live music showcase which has supported over 300 bands with reviews, photos and videos. It is a living and breathing history of live music in Hong Kong since 2004.
“Chris has been such a phenomenal musician and supporter of the independent music scene, and its no surprise that this was an award that has been travelling over the years to her doorstep. She has also been working closely with the Asian Coalition of Indie Acts (a.c.i.a) to bridge the gap between countries and provide insights and valuable information for the whole indie scene of Asia to elevate to the global level.
“Together with Eva Dowd from Boston, Silvie Beatrix Nebauer from Bali and Lizza Guerrero Nakpil, these four amazing “wonder women” have formed the heart and soul of the independent music scene of Asia,” said Siva Zaphod Chandran, the founder of Bite My Music Global Awards and ACIA.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, to a Chinese mother and an English father. She got involved in the HK live music scene since 1990, as a performer, songwriter, guitarist, singer and event organiser.
Her Cantonese composition “Will You?” was nominated “Best Alternative Song” at the 2001 Golden Sail Awards (Composers Authors Society of Hong Kong), narrowly beaten out by Faye Wong.
Past & present bands include: Sisters of Sharon, Smoking Monkeys, Flowers of Babylon, Thinking Out Loud, COCKfight and Guitars & Panties.
She discovered a flair for organizing events whilst working on Earth Day Festivals and also discovered no one else wants to do it, her perseverance & passion has seen The Underground go from strength to strength.
Chris B’s strongest belief is in creating a live music scene that is comparable to New York or London as is befitting for a “World City”.Chris B has also single-handedly organised other events such as Music Matters Live (2010) festival (with 37 bands in 4 venues in 2 days.)
She’s also the China National Director for Planet Rox, The Director for HKGFM.net, and the China National Director for the Global Battle of the Bands
Chris B has been featured in documentaries that have won awards at the HK Independent Film Festival plus been the subject of many interviews. She is presently managing the ‘real’ twins of Hong Kong – Chloe & Ashley who are four-years-old and have already starred with Chris B in a Sony Cybershot ad back in early 2008.
