UPDATED

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 5,000 protesters are now sitting along Jalan Pudu in the heavy rain, facing the police and refusing to budge.

Earlier, policemen and protesters traded blows when the former moved in to make arrests.

One of those arrested had suffered injuries to his head and was seen bleeding profusely while another went into an epileptic fits.

Some of the protesters even taunted the police personnel by lying down on the road, asking to be arrested, saying “Marilah tangkap”.

The Federal Reserve Unit has fired several rounds of tear gas to disperse the crowd.
