‘Thank-you, Utusan’

 | September 28, 2011

Anwar Ibrahim is flattered by the Umno-owned publication's latest allegation, which he says, is a testimony to his power.

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has thanked Utusan Malaysia for publishing an article claiming that his loyalists may have infiltrated strategic government bodies.

“It is a compliment to me, thank you very much, Utusan. It’s a compliment (as to) how powerful I am to be able to influence (officers in the government), ” he said.

“I hope (the moles they are referring to) is not from the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office), I normally don’t take them seriously,” he added.

Anwar also pointed out that the Umno-owned Malay daily attacked him on a daily basis without obtaining his version.

“Everyday they (Utusan) attack Anwar without Anwar rebutting or explaining. Isn’t that interesting?” he told reporters here.

Anwar said that Utusan had made “101 allegations” against him and added that he does not read the newspaper.

In his column published today, Utusan’s senior editor Zaini Hassan claimed that “enemies within” linked to Anwar had been feeding the opposition with confidential information on Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
