Khalid: MBI recovered RM302m from Talam

July 12, 2012

The Selangor state government is awaiting the repayment of the balance of RM80 million, says the menteri besar.

SHAH ALAM: The PKR-led Selangor government, through Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), has recovered RM302,711,391 in debts from Talam Corporation (Talam), said Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

He told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today that the state government was awaiting the repayment of the balance of RM80 million from Talam.

“According to MBI officers, the money will grow because it will be invested as payment revenue,” he said when replying to a question from Mohd Shamsudin Lias (BN-Sungai Burong) who had wanted to know the amount of debts the state government had recovered from Talam so far.

Abdul Khalid said yesterday that MBI would appoint five local audit firms of international standing to review Talam Corporation’s debt-restructuring exercise.

He has also said that the state government would come out with a white paper on the acquisition of properties of the Talam Group to settle its debts with state government subsidiaries along with a report of the appointed audit firms when tabling the 2013 Selangor Budget scheduled for November.
