Kedah Kita Youth leader now says he was manipulated by a party leader to question the Penang CM on a former staff.
SUNGAI PETANI: A Kita youth leader has claimed that he was ‘manipulated’ by the party’s former state chairman Zamil Ibrahim to issue a statement questioning Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on whether his former staff owned a posh house in George Town.
Kedah Kita youth wing treasurer H’ng Sau Ping claimed that given that he was not highly educated, he just read out a statement without fully understanding its contents at a press conference here on Friday.
In his police report lodged in Kuala Muda district police station at 2.30pm Saturday, the 29-year-old politician has also sought police protection for him and his family.
Kedah Kita chief Kamal Nasser Thow Beek meanwhile also lodged a report at the same station saying that H’ng statement had nothing to with the party.
In his report, Kamal Nasser claimed that H’ng had admitted that he had only read out a statement targeting Lim, the DAP secretary-general, prepared by Zamil.
Kamal Nasser warned Zamil for tarnishing Kita’s image and called on the police to swiftly act on the case.
In an immediate response, Zamil rubbished H’ng’s claims that he had manipulated the Kita young politician to raised doubts on Lim.
“I categorically deny that I forced, manipulated or even make use of H’ng to question the Penang CM,” Zamil told FMT.
Zamil indeed counter-claimed that H’ng was ‘disturbed’ by certain prominent politicians all day long to lodge the police report against him.
He said he wondered why H’ng’s statement was so “dangerously alarming that he must be disturbed to lodge a report.”
“It was a simple statement seeking clarification.
“Surely something fishy here,” Zamil said.
On Friday, H’ng allegedly claimed that a former staff of Lim’s chief minister office (CMO) owned a RM1.8 million valued two and a half storey landed property that does not commensurate with her salary.
It’s learnt that the staff has recently been transferred from CMO to another government department.
“The rental in this area is about RM3,500 per month and surely the staff cannot afford to live there on just the salary.
“As a citizen I have a right to know the truth and demand an honest answer from Lim on this matter as he constantly says DAP is transparent,” he added.
Zamil, who was present, expressed confidence on the accuracy of H’ng’s information, claiming its source was from Pakatan Rakyat.
