Another day, another case of Malaysian road rage

August 9, 2014

Singapore gets a taste of Malaysian road rage and the racially-laced tirades that usually ensue from a road accident.

By James Sivalingam

gilaJust as most Malaysians were trying to look past Kiki’s road rage episode that dominated social media and kopitiam conversations, another video has emerged on the Internet.

According to mymediahubonline blog, a Singaporean driver got into a fender bender with a car bearing a Malaysian number plate on August 1.

From the video posted on the same website, the exchange between the two became tense and escalated when the Malaysian woman began insulting the Singaporean man with a string of racial epithets.

The man can be seen insisting on making a police report while the Malaysian woman becomes incensed and stays adamant that damages to her car be compensated for immediately, something that is common in Malaysia.

Further along the video, one of the passengers in the Malaysian car can be seen kicking the front hood of the Singaporean man’s vehicle.

This is the second incident to go viral on the Internet in less than a month, suggesting that road rage is a systemic problem in Malaysian society.
