CID chief appeals for calm, plays down stories spread via social media

adnan-abdullahSHAH ALAM: Selangor police have detained three men for investigations into a fatal shooting in Banting yesterday, and eight others, including a Nepalese, about a man who was slashed to death in a fight last Wednesday.

CID chief Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police were now seeking M. Shanmugam, 31, also known as “Sun Boy”, whose last known address was Teluk Panglima Garang, to help in the investigations.

Mohd Adnan said the other suspects, including the Nepalese, were arrested for investigation into the death of a 34-year-old man who was killed in a fight in Teluk Panglima Garang last Wednesday.

He said the two brawls involved gansterism and appealed to the public to remain clam and not fear for their safety.

They should not believe rumours or information spread via social media, which could create speculation that “will only worsen the situation”, he was quoted as saying.
