Sarawak BN can take back DAP seats, says Abang Johari
Minister says Adenan Satem’s policies as Chief Minister have been accepted by most people, including the Chinese.
KUCHING: Barisan Nasional (BN) is capable of wresting back DAP and PKR seats in the 11th Sarawak state election, expected to be held in April.
“We have feedback from the grassroots and I feel the policies set by the Chief Minister (Adenan Satem) have been accepted by most of the people, including the Chinese.
“So, we are confident that this time, the support of the people for BN will increase, including from Chinese voters,” said Sarawak Housing and Tourism Minister Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Johari, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president, said the increase in support was seen after Adenan took over the state’s leadership.
He was speaking to reporters after launching a seminar on “Strengthening the BN-PBB Election Machinery’” for the Pantai Damai state constituency here today.
“It will make the people confident that the future of Sarawakians is better under the present state government.”
Meanwhile, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi called on party (PBB) workers and voters in the area not to be complacent and satisfied with the support given to him in the last state elections.
He said the target this time was to increase the majority votes, so they needed to work harder to draw more support from the voters.
In the 10th state election in 2011, Abdul Rahman garnered 7,425 votes or 75.1 per cent of the total, with a 5,071-vote majority.
