Cockpit window found broken on Rayani plane
Airline to check if sabotage the cause, explains why KL-bound flight from Langkawi cancelled.
PETALING JAYA: A cockpit window was found broken on an aircraft of “syariah-compliant” low-cost Rayani Air after a night stop in Langkawi, the airline said today.
“We are investigating whether this incident is an act of sabotage,” the airline said in a statement released this evening
It was earlier reported that flight RN180, scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur at 11.10am, could not depart due to a technical problem.
The flight was cancelled, leaving more than 200 stranded in Langkawi.
“This is not due to some technical error or event,” the airline said. “Our windshield in the cockpit was found to be shattered after yesterday’s night stop flight.”
The airline said it would liaise with the authorities about the broken windscreen.
The carrier said it was doing its best for the stranded passengers. “We are trying all we could to make all our passengers who are stranded to leave Langkawi safe and sound,” the airline said.
