PRS confident of clean sweep in 11 seats
Party president James Masing lays claim to two new seats, Samalaju and Murum, allocated by Chief Minister Adenan Satem in upcoming Sarawak polls.
KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Dr James Jemut Masing today said his party is confident of delivering all 11 seats allocated to it in the upcoming 11th Sarawak state election.
He said PRS will have no difficulty in delivering these seats or even extra seats if the Barisan Nasional leadership decided to offer extra seats, especially with Dayak majority, to the party.
Masing, who is also Sarawak Land Development Minister and Baleh assemblyman, reiterated that two new seats, namely Samalaju and Murum, had already been allocated to PRS and no other BN component party should stake claim to them.
Speaking to reporters before meeting Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya, today, Masing said he did not mind if his party did not get the extra seats but stressed that others should not claim Murum and Samalaju as the Chief Minister had already decided that the two seats were for PRS.
On PRS candidates, Masing said the list was ready but will leave it to the Chief Minister to announce.
Besides Murum and Samalaju, PRS will also defend Baleh, Bukit Begunan, Balai Ringin, Belaga, Batang Ai, Tamin, Kakus, Pelagus and Ngemah.
In the previous state election, PRS lost Pelagus to independent candidate George Lagong.
