Kit Siang wants to brief Cabinet on 1MDB scandal
The DAP veteran has gathered the views of the public in 121 constituencies on the RM50 billion 1MDB and RM4.2 billion “donation” mega global scandals since his suspension from Parliament as Gelang Patah MP.
KUCHING: DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang has proposed that the last three nights of the campaign for the 11th Sarawak state election be devoted to a series of Great Debates. “DAP National Publicity Secretary and MP for PJ Utara, Tony Pua, will liaise with the Prime Minister’s Office to finalize details on the Great Sarawak Debates on 1MDB.”
Sarawakian voters must decide whether they want the Barisan Nasional (BN) to win a landslide victory in the Sarawak state election on May 7, said Lim. “The landslide BN victory will be hijacked by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to claim that he has been given a landslide endorsement by Sarawakian voters for his twin global mega scandals.”
“He will claim that Sarawakians support him continuing to remain Prime Minister despite the mega global scandals.”
The outcome on May 7 in Sarawak, said Lim, will be regarded as a verdict by the people of Sarawak on whether they approve or disapprove the 1MDB mega global scandal.
The DAP veteran also wants to brief the Federal Cabinet in Kuching on Wednesday on what he has gathered during his six months suspension from Parliament as Gelang Patah MP. “The Cabinet must take a stand on the 1MDB 50 billion and the RM4.2 billion ‘donation’ scandals.”
Lim added that he emailed the Prime Minister on Monday expressing his willingness to appear before the Cabinet meeting in Kuching on Wednesday to state why the Cabinet must take a stand on the RM50 billion 1MDB and RM4.2 billion “donation” scandals. “I have received public feedback from the 121 parliamentary constituencies I had visited since my six-month suspension from Parliament.”
“I was suspended because I insisted that Najib should give full accountability on the global mega scandals.”
The situation for 1MDB was getting more and more grim, warned Lim. “The storm signals are going off all over the world.”
“The end-game for Malaysia’s first global financial scandal may not be far off. ‘Game over 1MDB and Najib?’ goes one analysis in the media.”
The crux of the issue, continued the DAP veteran, was that it was not 1MDB or Najib who will pay 1MDB’s RM50 billion debts. “It will be the 30 million people of Malaysia including 2.6 million Sarawakians who will have to pay this gargantuan bill.”
