DAP appeals to PKR to back out from Batu Kitang contest
Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen claims that feedback from the ground shows PKR candidate Voon Shiak Ni has no chance of winning.
KUCHING: DAP has appealed to PKR to back out from contesting the Batu Kitang state seat near Kuching, saying PKR has no chance of winning the new seat also contested by DAP.
Sarawak DAP Chairman Chong Chieng Jen claimed that feedback from the ground showed that PKR candidate Voon Shiak Ni had no chance of winning.
He claimed DAP candidate, Abdul Aziz Isa Marindo, who is his special officer, has “a very good chance to win the race.”
“As such I call upon and appeal to PKR to declare their withdrawal as the ground feedback is that PKR has no chance of winning,” he told reporters at the DAP headquarters here today.
Batu Kitang will see a five-cornered fight involving Abdul Aziz, Voon (who is PKR National Women’s vice-president), BN candidate Lo Khere Chiang and two independent candidates, Sulaiman Kadir and Othman Bojeng.
DAP and PKR have gone their separate ways in the current Sarawak state election and will lock horns in six seats, namely Batu Kitang, Mulu, Murum, Simanggang, Ngemah and Mambong, after talks for an amicable solution on seats fell through.
