DAP shocked Ridhuan Tee was MCA member
The fact that a “Chinese-attacking extremist” like Ridhuan Tee was a life member makes MCA a hypocrite in championing vernacular education, says Dapsy Executive Secretary (Publicity) Muhammad Shakir Ameer.
Tee had previously called for the abolition of vernacular schools although MCA’s main agenda has been to fight for Chinese-based schools in the country. Tee has also often told MCA to be “thankful” for their Cabinet posts.
“It is a shock to learn that MCA has prominent members who call for the abolition of vernacular education,” said Dapsy Executive Secretary (Publicity) Muhammad Shakir Ameer in a press statement.
Shakir claimed that it was no surprise that Tee quit a “sinking ship party”, but the fact that he was an MCA life member all along was nevertheless shocking.
“MCA has attacked DAP about its past association with PAS but having a ‘Chinese attacking extremist’ like Tee as a life member makes MCA a hypocrite and two-faced in its political stance all along.”
He said his party was puzzled over MCA’s silence towards Tee’s previous racist, divisive and anti-national statements.
He said while many may have applauded MCA President Liow Tiong Lai’s stance on the proposed shariah law amendments put in motion last Thursday at the Dewan Rakyat, he should also take responsibility and apologise to Malaysians, especially the Chinese community, over Tee’s insensitive statements.
“Perhaps MCA should take a look at its own backyard before meddling in other party’s businesses.
“MCA claims to represent the Federal Government, but an extremist like Ridhuan Tee has been their member all along.”
The controversial academician announced he was quitting MCA as a result of the party’s stand against PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s Private Member’s Bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.
