Ridhuan Tee was in MCA?
Netizens and prominent figures alike ‘in shock’ that the controversial preacher was in MCA all along.
PETALING JAYA: Ridhuan Tee Abdullah was in MCA?
This was the question posed by netizens in light of the controversial preacher’s decision to quit MCA as a result of the party’s stand against the Private Member’s Bill to amend the Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.
Among those who took to social media over the revelation was DAP’s Teresa Kok who wrote on Facebook that they never knew Tee was an MCA member all along.
“No wonder MCA kept quiet when he made all sorts of nonsensical statements in the past.”
Earlier today, her party expressed shock that the ”anti-vernacular educationist” was an MCA member all along.
Most netizens shared the “shocking” news about Tee’s MCA membership on Facebook and Twitter.
“RIDHUAN TEE WAS IN MCA? I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU WERE A MALAY?! WHAT?!” said Twitter user @Nany_JHaron.
“Horrr… so Ridhuan Tee was an MCA member for over two decades? Hahahaha!” @patricklsk tweeted.
Former Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) counsel Michelle Yesudas also posed the question. “To me this is breaking news. This guy was in MCA all along! Dying” she posted on Facebook.
Tee, a Muslim convert, is known for his tirade against the “ultra kiasu”, a term he coined to describe Opposition politicians and perceived enemies of Islam.
Some of the topics in his columns, published in Sinar Harian, revolve around the threats posed by the “ultra kiasu” towards the Muslim community.
He had in the past also used the term “sepet”, regarded as a slur, to describe the Chinese and was always encouraging Malays to unite for the sake of Islam.

In his latest column today, Tee reprimanded Muslims who did not stand up to those opposing the Private Member’s Bill for the Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016, aimed at giving more powers to shariah courts.
