BN candidate seeks approval from ustaz to campaign
She explains that widowed Muslim women are not allowed to meet people for four months and 10 days.
PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional’s Kuala Kangsar candidate Mastura Md Yazid is awaiting instructions from her ustaz before campaigning for the party in the coming months.
According to China Press, Mastura explained that widowed Muslim women are not allowed to leave the house to meet other people for four months and 10 days, with the exception for health treatment, work or to buy food.
She pointed out that she was waiting to find out from her ustaz if campaigning belongs under the category of work, which includes nomination day this coming Sunday.
After being elected as BN’s candidate last Saturday, Mastura has not left the house to meet voters or media personnel.
She had apologised to the party last Sunday for being unable to partake in its campaign planned to begin on June 5.
Despite not being a Kuala Kangsar local, Mastura is well known among the Kuala Kangsar community as a friendly person who mixes with everyone, despite their political affiliations.
According to Kuala Kangsar residents, Mastura comes from Negeri Sembilan, and had always accompanied her husband when he met citizens or attended events.
They pointed out that the couple never failed to take the time to visit local residents and provide assistance to those in need.
The mother of four has also been active in politics. She was a member of the Chembong, Negeri Sembilan Umno Division, before taking a break to take care of her family.
Mastura is expected to contest against PAS candidate Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad and Umno Youth leader Syed Rosli Jamalullail, who has announced that he will be contesting as an independent.
