PAS regrets claims it wants to join forces with Umno
PAS supports Umno’s efforts to elevate shariah courts but opposes GST, TPPA and dual language programme.
KOTA BHARU: PAS Youth regrets accusations that the party condones Umno’s oppression and is aiming to combine forces with the Barisan Nasional party, says PAS Youth Chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
Speaking at the wing’s muktamar today, he reiterated that cooperation with Umno was only in the interests of a greater good and described the accusations as baseless allegations.
“PAS has always been consistent in opposing oppression in the country.”
He cited the party’s opposition to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Dual Language Programme (DLP) and the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).
He added that most of what was opposed, was also opposed by other Opposition parties.
Nik Abduh said this was the ta’awun siyasi concept of supporting what was right and opposing what was wrong.
In his speech, Nik Abduh also explained that PAS’ alliance with Parti Ikatan Rakyat Malaysia (Ikatan) would break the political dominance of certain political groups in the country.
He added that this was why PAS was cautious when it came to the Citizens’ Declaration aimed at removing Prime Minister Najib Razak.
