Caught on video, open door on moving LRT
Passenger captures video clip of train travelling on Sri Petaling/Ampang line with door still open and passengers seemingly unperturbed.
Yong was on board the LRT travelling along the Sri Petaling line, and the door for the coach he was in was wide open while the train was on the move.
Surprised by the door not closing as it should, and the danger it posed to passengers, Yong uploaded a short clip of the incident on YouTube yesterday.
The clip, which is less than a minute long, however showed that passengers in the train seemed unperturbed by the fact that the train was travelling at a reasonable speed with the door wide open.
According to Yong, he was on his way to Plaza Rakyat from Sri Petaling yesterday. The train departed at around 10.50am, but the door for the coach Yong had entered did not shut behind him.
“But when it finally closed, it could not open when the train reached the next stop. I doubt the driver even noticed,” Yong told FMT.
On another note, Yong also complained about the LRT price hike which came into force last December.
He said that he used to pay RM1.90 to travel from Sri Petaling to Plaza Rakyat before the price hike, but is now paying RM3.20.
“Without the discount card it would be RM3.90, and I feel that the service just doesn’t match up to the price hike,” Yong added.
In December last year, Prasarana Malaysia reviewed their fare structure for the first time in more than 13 years, citing economic reasons and efforts to provide a more consistent fare structure.
“The fare structure has not been adjusted upwards since 2002 in spite of continual increase in the price of goods and services,” Prasarana president and group CEO Azmi Abdul Aziz said at the time.
