It will discuss this at divisional meetings on Sept 4.

Johnny MositunPETALING JAYA: Facts about the independence of various states need to be corrected, Sabah State Assembly Deputy Speaker Johnny Mositun said.

He said he will deliver a message to the Sabah Government and the Federal Government on this matter at PBS’ Pantai Manis, Kawang and Bongawan joint divisional annual meetings on Sept 4.

“We will debate on the ‘independence facts’ of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and the formation of Malaysia and form a proposal,” Star Online reported the PBS secretary-general as saying.

The joint meetings will be opened by PBS President and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

“Malaysians commemorate the formation of the Federation of Malaysia on Sept 16, but also celebrate the independence of Malaya on Aug 31, 1957, Sabah’s independence on Aug 31, 1963 and Sarawak’s independence on July 22, 1963.”

He said all Malaysians must understand the facts about the independence of other states.
