New ‘stylish’ Proton Saga targets singles, young execs
Priced at between RM37,000 and RM46,000, the four-door sedan will be launched officially next Wednesday.
PETALING JAYA: The third generation Proton Saga is expected to be a big hit with singles and young executives who will be attracted to its style, affordability and fuel economy.
To be launched on Wednesday at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam, the new entry-level four-door sedan will be priced between RM37,000 and RM46,000, The Star Online said.
“We are targeting singles and young executives between 20 and 30 years old. This latest model is more fuel efficient by up to 11 per cent and provides a much more refined drive,” an official with the national automaker was quoted as saying.
Marketed for its affordability, fuel economy, style, spaciousness as well as practicality and convenience, the new Saga also comes with a new 1.3-litre variable valve timing engine and continuously variable transmission.
A five-speed manual transmission variant is also available, the report said.
With a marginally larger 420-litre boot, the new Saga will come in the variants of Standard, Executive and Premium with an anti-lock braking system and brake assist available in the last two variants.
The extra features of the Premium variant include an electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, reverse camera and a 2DIN audio head unit.

All Saga variants have a four-star safety rating (out of a maximum of five stars) from Asean New Car Assessment Programme for South-East Asian Countries.
