MMA: Police must apologise over manhandling of doctor
MMA says doctors would have expected a sincere apology for an honest mistake on the part of the police.
Its president, Dr John Chew Chee Ming, said Dr R Thanendran was a victim of mistaken identity and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar had regretted the incident (manhandling of the doctor).
However, he said, the IGP would not apologise for the action of his men in carrying out their job.
“We would have expected a sincere apology for an honest mistake (on the part of the police) which would have placated the medical profession as we are, after all, doctors with benevolent hearts.

“MMA maintains its stand that the Ministry of Health ensures the safety of its healthcare personnel on its premises,” added Dr Chew in a statement here today.
