SHAH ALAM: Two brothers were arrested in Kampung Rantau Panjang, Klang, early this morning for an alleged snatch theft involving a 56-year-old woman in Kapar, Klang, last week.
The recording of the closed circuit television on the incident was widely spread on social media.
Klang Utara District police chief, ACP Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 28-year-old suspect was arrested at his house while his elder brother, aged 32 years, was picked up in the village between 2am and 4am.
“In the suspect’s house, the police found a motorcycle and helmet believed to be used by the two suspects during the snatch theft. Also found were several personal items belonging to victims,” he said in a statement here today.
He said, in the 4pm incident on Oct 20, the woman sustained facial and body injuries during the snatch theft that took place as she was returning home from the Kapar Health Clinic.
Mohd Yusoff said the CCTV footage at the scene showed the suspect on a motorcycle coming from behind the victim and trying to snatch her handbag, causing her to fall face down.
“Because the suspect failed to snatch the victim’s handbag, he turned back and rode over her and took her handbag before fleeing the scene,” he said.
He said the victim received outpatient treatment at the Kapar Health Clinic and was in stable condition.
