Former Baram MP Harrison recovering from ‘double vision’
He came down last September with the rare ‘brain stem encephalitis’ which caused difficulties in reading, writing and typing.
MIRI: Former Baram MP Harrison Ngau Laing said in a Facebook posting that he’s recovering his vision after being down with “brain stem encephalitis” last September.
The condition, he said, caused the “double vision” syndrome which resulted in him having difficulty reading, writing or typing.
He thanked God that he survived “this very strange and rare brain stem encephalitis episode”.
“It’s strange that of all people, and in this kind of business, that I should come down with this strange condition.”
He thanked everyone, in particular his doctors, nurses, hospital supporting staff and physiotherapists.
He also thanked long-lost friends and many others, in and outside Malaysia, for their visits, prayers, support and generous donations during his hospitalisation in Miri and Kuching.
He said he did not know how to repay all the kindness shown to him and his family.
“I pray that God will shower his blessings upon them all.”
Harrison believes this is the second time God had saved him in his life.
In 1987, he was detained for 60 days under the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA) during “Operation Lalang” for alleged anti-logging activities.
