S’wak BNBBC on how state can remain ‘fixed deposit’ for BN
The state Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club tells federal government that promises made must be fullfilled, adding BN can win big in Sarawak in general election.
KUCHING: Sarawak Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) chairman Abdullah Saidol has cautioned that Sarawak will not remain an electoral “fixed deposit” state if the ruling coalition’s promises are not fulfilled.
Putting the federal government on notice, Abdullah, who is also Semop assemblyman, said: “The federal government’s promises must be fullfilled.”
Speaking at the BNBBC dinner Abdullah said: “It should not assume that Sarawak will remain a ‘fixed deposit’ state even if it doesn’t keep its promises.”
The Borneo Post quoted him as saying that the the federal government should also give positive feedback on its negotiations with the state government,
Abdullah, who is chief political secretary to the chief minister, added: “The people must have confidence in the federal government.”
He said the state BNBBC would go all out to help BN Sarawak candidates win their parliamentary seats in the next general election.
Abdullah believes the state BN can win 28 to 29 of the parliamentary seats in Sarawak, up from the 25 seats it won in 2013.
“That’s our promise,” he was quoted by the Borneo Post as saying.
Expressing disappointment with the allocation for Sarawak under the national budget 2017, he said a bigger allocation was needed to ensure development in Sarawak was on par with that of states in the peninsula.
Luckily, he said, the state government came through with additional allocations in the state budget for the rural areas.
“We appreciate this budget,” he said. “I can say this is the best budget among the states despite the uncertain global economy.”
He assured that all 48 BNBBC members were strongly behind Chief Minister Adenan Satem.
