Dr Mahathir insults the Prophet again, says PM’s aide
Rizal Mansor accuses former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of being more DAP than the DAP to the point he is willing to insult Prophet Muhammad.
The statement, made at a press conference in conjunction with the DAP national conference, was a response to Umno acting deputy president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s statement that Najib Razak was chosen by God to be prime minister.
According to a report by Malaysiakini, Mahathir said Zahid seemed to equate the prime minister with the Prophet.
Rizal, who is the prime minister’s aide, took to Facebook to claim that Mahathir made the statement to appease his new allies, DAP.
“Now that he’s with DAP he has to show that he is even more DAP than DAP to the point where he is even willing to insult the Prophet Muhammad,” he said.
He said this was in direct contrast to his actions in 2013 where he had asked the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to be established in order to investigate citizenships granted to foreigners before Merdeka.
“When he was fighting the DAP, he was the one who was even more Umno than Umno,” he said.
Rizal claimed this was not the first time Mahathir had insulted the Prophet, adding his statements about him resulted in Umno losing the Arau seat in the 1998 by-election.

“In 1997, he made fun of the Prophet’s beard when he asked who knew what his beard looked like, and whether there were pictures of his beard. He also quipped that there was no shaving cream or razors during that time and that they could not get water (for shaving) in the desert.”
