Woman believed to be an alcoholic found chained
The woman was chained from her neck to her abdomen in front of the 3K Complex in Serdang Raya.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said the department received a distress call at 9.45am.
He said a team of firemen from the Serdang Fire and Rescue Station, who were despatched to the scene, cut the chain using a bolt cutter.
“She was chained from her neck to abdomen. The woman was handed over to police for further action,” said Sani when contacted here today.
It has been learnt that the woman may have been chained due to a drinking habit.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat confirmed the case but refused to divulge details as investigations were still ongoing.
Meanwhile, police urged members of the public with information about the 29-year-old woman to come forward and lodge a report.
Serdang police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias told Bernama that police were looking for the woman who was taken away by a man who claimed to be her brother, after the Serdang Fire and Rescue Department rescued her about 9am.
“The man had claimed to be the brother of the woman and taken her away but no report has been lodged.
“We do not have any details about them,” he said after launching Op Selamat in conjunction with the Chinese New Year here today.
Megat Mohamad said a check at the address of the woman revealed that the house was empty for some time now.

He said police are investigating the motive as to why she was chained and who had chained her.
