Viet murder suspect had changed hotels 3 times

 | February 17, 2017

The woman carried a teddy bear half her size and had used a mask all the time while inside the hotels, say people interviewed.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Vietnamese woman arrested in connection with the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s half-brother had stayed at three different hotels in Sepang prior to her arrest on Wednesday, according to information obtained by FMT.

The 28-year-old woman had arrived at the hotel with a medium luggage bag, a carry-on bag and a huge teddy bear half her size.

She stayed two days at the first hotel before moving to the second hotel and the third later.

All the hotels were near each other and located in secluded areas in Sepang, 8km from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).

Jong Un’s estranged half-brother Kim Jong Nam, 46, was at the airport on Monday to catch a flight home to Macau when he was sprayed with a form of liquid and had his face swabbed with a piece of cloth.

Jong Nam sought assistance at the airport service counter complaining of pain and dizziness. He was taken to an airport clinic and died in an ambulance en route to Putrajaya Hospital.

The Vietnamese woman was arrested on Wednesday morning when she returned to the airport.

The hotel staff described the Vietnamese woman as nice.

She always wore a different contact lens every day and had her face covered with a mask while indoors. She would only take off the mask when she went out to buy food in the evening.

During a stay at the second hotel, the woman had asked for a pair of scissors from the hotel’s housekeeping and cut her shoulder-length hair shorter to reach below her ears.

People interviewed said the woman spoke in halting English at the first and second hotel. But her English appeared to be fluent at the third hotel.

On the day of her arrest, the woman told the receptionist she wanted to extend her stay until Feb 23.

She was positively identified through the closed circuit television camera footage obtained by the police at the airport.

A day later, another woman, who was also positively identified through CCTV footage, was arrested at a hotel in the city. Prior to that, police had arrested her boyfriend to facilitate investigations.

Besides these three, police are looking for at least four more men believed to be the ones who “orchestrated” the “attack” on Jong Nam.

Jong Nam was travelling on a passport under the name “Kim Chol”. He had two wives, one staying in Beijing and the second in Macau.
