Lim wants action on anti-DAP site that issued death threat
Lim Kit Siang says DAP Laknatullah (Allah damns DAP) Facebook page is still accessible to public and asks if those behind it are enjoying ‘powerful patronage and protection’.
In a statement issued today, the veteran politician condemned the DAP Laknatullah (Allah damns DAP) site for its “irresponsible posts threatening death and bodily harm to Edry” and for the messages of hate directed at the DAP.
He also asked why the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had not banned the site yet especially since the most recent posting mocked Edry further for lodging a police report against them in regard to the death threat he received.
“Are those responsible for the ‘DAP Laknatullah’ FB page and postings right that they enjoy powerful patronage and protection?” Kit Siang asked, adding that if such a site called Umno Laknatullah (Allah damns Umno) had been up and running and replete with death threats to Umno members, the MCMC would have acted within the hour to take down the site.
He said however that the DAP would never engage in such dirty tactics directed at their political opponents as such dissemination of “hatred, distrust and animosities among races and religions” were the greatest threat to peace, harmony and progress.
He also said that if Prime Minister Najib Razak was serious about the Wasatiyyah (moderation) principles of justice, balance and excellence that he preached to the world, he would have to ensure that his own government was guided by the very same principles.
“The 14th General Election is a battle between Malaysians vs Malaysians – between those who want a democracy vs those who want a kleptocracy,” Kit Siang said, asking if Malaysians could expect swift action by the authorities, including the MCMC, on Edry’s police report.
