PKR members to quit Kelantan govt posts by end July

 | June 9, 2017

Timeline for resignations put off due to technical issues, says PKR president Dr Wan Azizah.

wan-azizah-kelantanPETALING JAYA: All PKR members holding posts in the PAS-led Kelantan administration will step down at the end of next month in line with the party’s instruction after PAS cut ties with PKR last month.

The delayed timeline for the resignation was announced today by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who explained it was due to “technical issues”.

“Our party secretary-general has met Kelantan PKR leaders to thrash out the problem and I believe the appointees will resign at end July after the administrative technical issues are resolved,” she said at a media conference after attending a meeting of the Pakatan Harapan presidential council at PPBM headquarters here.

It was reported earlier that PKR might have to change its stand requiring its political appointees in Kelantan to quit their posts since PAS was maintaining the status quo in the state of Selangor despite the falling out with PKR at the national level.

Party vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the central leadership was discussing the issue with Kelantan PKR leaders while taking into consideration the continuing participation of PAS in the PKR-helmed Selangor administration.
