4 riverside villages in Kinabatangan hit by floods
No one has been evacuated yet as the water in the Kinabatangan River is still at the ‘caution’ level.
The flooded villages are Pangkalan Bukit Garam, Kasih Sayang, Danau Ria and Muhibbah Tengah, according to a report by the Civil Defence Force.
Only high vehicles can operate on the flooded roads in these villages, where residents have been advised to be cautious and move to safer relatives’ houses in case the flood situation worsens.
No centres for evacuees have been opened yet as the river water is still at the “caution level”.
A water level enters the “caution” zone when it reaches 8.3 metres. The situation reaches the “warning” level when the water surface hits 9.30 metres. Situations are considered “dangerous” if the water level reaches 10.3 metres.
Four members of the Civil Defence Force are monitoring the situation closely.
