Rooftop rescue for bungling burglar
Firemen climb up to the roof to arrest and tie up the burglar before carrying him down.
The burglar had broken into a house in Miri this morning, The Star reported. The house owners were out of town for the Hari Raya festivities, but neighbours noticed the burglar and alerted the police.
According to the report, the police managed to corner the burglar on the roof of the house, following which they called the Miri Fire and Rescue Department for help.
“Our firemen used a ladder to climb up the roof and, together with the policemen and Civil Defence personnel, we arrested and tied up the suspect before carrying him down,” department chief Supt Law Poh King told the daily.

The man was then given medical treatment and handed over to the police.
