Stop accusing without facts, Penampang BN tells Darell Leiking
It denies his claim that RM5 million in development funds was personally received by Penampang BN chairman Donald Mojuntin.
The Daily Express quoted Leiking as saying the RM5 million funds given to all BN MPs was also channelled to Donald.
Leiking, who is Penampang MP, was reported to have called on Donald to clarify the arrangement and confirm he did not keep any part of the fund, stressing that all development allocations should be used to benefit the people.
“We do not know where Darell Leiking gets his facts from.
“But his contention that the Penampang BN chairman has been given RM5 million as allocation from the federal government is an outright blatant lie,” Pancratius said in an emailed statement.
“The (Penampang) BN chairman has never received such an allocation since Darrell Leiking became the Penampang MP after the last general election.
“It is very unbecoming and irresponsible of an elected representative to make wild and unproven accusations.
“For the past four years, the Penampang BN chairman has worked hard to ensure good cooperation and coordination among the various BN component parties.
“Apart from that, the BN team has worked together to ensure all government projects that were approved before Darell Leiking became an MP are funded and implemented.
“These are projects like the Penampang Flood Mitigation Scheme, the Native Court Training Institute, the Penampang Native Court building, SMK Kipouvo, Penampang Health Clinic and many others.”
Pancratius also reiterated that the leaders of each component party had never stopped asking for funds from both state and federal ministries to ensure much-needed small projects in the constituency were implemented.
“These small projects are listed by the relevant JKKKs (village development and security committees) and JKDBs (urban welfare committees) with the cooperation of both the district office and the PPM (community development leaders) unit,” he said.
“All such funds, if approved, will go through the Penampang district office.
“Due to this team effort, we have also managed to get funds from both the state and federal governments to repair and renovate our churches in the constituency.
“The Penampang BN team has always put the people’s needs first and will continue to do so.
“If YB Leiking bothers to check the records, it is all there. But it seems that he is not interested in the truth.
“He seems more inclined towards character assassination and sensationalism for his personal political ambitions.”
Pancratius advised Leiking to be ethical and to carry out his duties as MP properly.
“I think he learnt very well from his former boss in PKR, Rafizi Ramli, who advocates that the opposition’s role is to ‘menghasut’ (incite).
“Our message to YB Leiking is to act more maturely, responsibly and with some semblance of ethics.
“Perhaps he is frustrated that as an opposition YB, he is not entitled to the RM6 million allocation given to government MPs annually.
“But neither does the Penampang BN chairman who, instead of complaining and blaming others for any shortcomings, does what he can to help the rakyat and the constituency.
“BN leaders in Penampang have never stopped ‘turun padang’ and being with the people.
“YB Darell Leiking is only seen having breakfast in Donggongon (town in Penampang). But where is he in the rest of the constituency?
“Perhaps he is busy doing the bidding of his new master, (Warisan president) Shafie Apdal.”

Leiking won the Penampang parliamentary seat under the PKR ticket but thereafter joined Warisan, saying he wanted to fight for the rights of Sabahans under a Sabah-centric party instead of one from the peninsula.
