KUALA LUMPUR: Over half a million existing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), monorail, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service users and tens of thousands of new users are expected to enjoy a 50% discount on their fares starting tomorrow until Aug 31, 2017.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, which was appointed as the official operator of the MRT service in the Klang Valley, said this in a statement.

This follows the announcement by Prime Minister Najib Razak during the opening of the second phase of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT (MRT SBK) today.

“Our fare system will be ready to be adjusted to give 50% discount for all MRT, LRT, monorail and BRT services from tomorrow,” said chief executive officer Zohari Sulaiman.

In line with the opening of the second phase of MRT SBK to the public from 4pm, Zohari also urged the public to take the opportunity to use the free two-phase MRT services from Kajang station to the National Museum station.

He said the last train departs from Kajang station and National Museum at 11.30pm tonight.
