Deputy IGP Noor Rashid Ibrahim says action will be taken against Jamal under local authority regulations if he refuses to comply with police advice.

Noor-Rashid-IbrahimKUALA LUMPUR: Police have warned Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Yunus to cancel his plan to stage a fish market at the site of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) anti-kleptocracy rally this weekend.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said action would be taken against Jamal under the local authority regulations if he remained stubborn.

Noor Rashid said he hoped Jamal would comply with the police’s advice and not cause any provocation.

“I advise Jamal not to disturb the rally or create chaos,” he told reporters at Taman Teknologi Malaysia today.

Jamal, who is the leader of the Red Shirts movement, had said he planned to sell fish at the “Sayang Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptokrasi” rally to be held at Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya, this Saturday.

He said he would bring 10 tonnes of fish to sell at RM5 a kilogramme.

He had previously staged the same stunt in Sekinchan, Ampang and Pandan.

Jamal said he wanted to hold the fish market at the rally site to take advantage of the crowds that would be there to listen to the speeches of opposition leaders.
