PETALING JAYA: DAP’s legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo has called on the police to provide an update on their investigations into allegations of an extra-marital affair involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Chief Commissioner (MACC) Dzulkifli Ahmad.

The Puchong MP said Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun needs to explain whether the police have verified the truth of a viral video on the matter.

“This is one of those cases in which the police must act without any delay. They must determine the facts,” he said.

“This is for the benefit of everyone concerned in that investigation and in this case, perhaps most important of all, the MACC,” he added.

In a statement today, he said the best way to help resolve investigations was to ask Dzulkifli himself.

“Have the police called him up for questioning to assist in this probe?” he said.

Dzulkifli became embroiled in the allegation after the video showing a man said to be a senior MACC officer apparently holidaying with a woman in Bali went viral on social media two weeks ago.

On Oct 13, Fuzi had said an investigation was underway on the matter after a report was made by a marketing executive.

Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali had said yesterday that he had not been made aware of any progress in the case, and left the investigation to the police to gather statements from several witnesses and so on.

He had said this in announcing that a head of the prosecution division in the attorney-general’s chambers (AGC) was leading a special task force set up under the AGC to investigate the allegations.

Gobind said the basic facts of the case should have already been verified by now.

“With respect, we cannot just sit back and remain silent in light of the position taken by the attorney-general,” he said.
