Ongkili: PBS ready to win back seats in GE14
Deputy president Maximus Ongkili says the party will discuss its strategy after the Christmas holidays.
Its deputy president Maximus Ongkili said the party had been preparing for the coming general election.
“We are ready. We will fight to win all (13 state and five parliamentary) seats,” he said after chairing the PBS supreme council meeting at the party’s headquarters, here.
Ongkili urged all branches and divisions to work hard to meet the target.
“While focus is given to our lost seats, we must not neglect those we won,” he said.
PBS lost six state seats – Matunggong, Inanam, Api-Api, Sri Tanjong, Tamparuli and Kadamaian – and also the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat in the last election.
Ongkili, who is also the acting president after taking over from Joseph Pairin Kitingan, said party leaders would be attending a PBS election preparation workshop scheduled for three days from Jan 12 to 14.
“Just after the Christmas break, we will sit down to discuss our political strategies, as part of PBS’s preparation for GE14,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PBS supreme council today approved the membership of three senior and experienced leaders from Matunggong.
They are former Bandau MP Henry Madatang, and former Matunggong assemblymen and ex-state assistant ministers Mathius Majihi and his younger brother Markus.
“They are fully committed to assist BN in recapturing the Matunggong state seat with a bigger majority,” said Ongkili.
