What about cop who had gun trained at civilians?

September 11, 2012

FMT LETTER: From Stephen Ng, via e-mail

The latest incident involving a personal bodyguard of Anwar Ibrahim reminds me of what I saw in a video clip during Bersih 3.0 on July 18. The incident involved a member of the Royal Malaysian Police force who was pointing his pistol at civilians. This was done despite the fact that his life was never threatened.

From my own monitoring, there were other policemen, in fact, hundreds of boys in blue during Bersih 3.0 on guard. I was there at Jalan Sultan, when they fired tear gas, and I personally handed some salt to some policemen who also suffered from the effects of the tear gas.

Because people at Jalan Sultan were already dispersing at that point in time, I’m saying that Najib’s regime was cruel in handling the Bersih 3.0 event. They could not differentiate between a civilian demonstration and a riot.

From the video clip that is available on YouTube, it is clear that during the incident, the policeman in his traffic uniform was the only one who pointed his pistol at civilians, suggesting that there was no real threat to his life. There were others in the vicinity who did not see any life threatening situation to warrant pointing the pistol at civilians.

If the life of this policeman had been threatened, or the people were acting aggressively, the police would have acted to protect a member of their force. However, evidence from the video showed that none of the boys stopped him, neither did they come to his rescue.

What is sad is that this police officer was never called in for further investigation. In contrast, when the PKR bus was being attacked, the bodyguard had only acted in self-protection, because he was one man against many, whereas in the case of Bersih 3.0, there were many heavily armed FRU and policemen at the scene against unarmed, and generally peaceful, civilians.

What appears to be more obvious is that certain parties are trying to use selective prosecution against the Opposition leader and his men. This bodyguard was acting within his capacity as a personal bodyguard of an important person in Malaysian politics, especially since the PKR bus had been attacked previously.

Malaysia, being  a democratic nation, should return to the era of Mahathir Mohamad, because anyone working in cohort with the devil, which Mahathir had identified to be the Barisan Nasional regime he had established, is clearly an Enemy of Allah SWT.

I urge NGOs to come forward to condemn such dirty politics.
