PETALING JAYA: A national level gathering of the Felcra community, scheduled for Sunday in Pasir Salak, will go ahead despite not having a police permit.

"The programme will go on," said organisor Mazlan Aliman.

“We are expecting several political leaders to attend and hear the views of settlers from Kampung Pasir Rentang, Kubu Gajah, Pasir Salak, which is also Felcra Berhad chairman Tajuddin Ali’s constituency.

“I have also received confirmation from participants from Johor,Pahang and Terengganu. Our target is 1,000 participants for the gathering from all parts of Malaysia,” Mazlan said.

Topping the agenda of discussion on issues surrounding Felcra. Mazlan said several participants had expressed interest in speaking about various issues in their respective localities.

“What is important here is that people must know the squandering and thieving that is happening in Felcra.

“I myself will expose 17 abuses in Felcra. Felcra is 44 years old and has 18 subsidiary companies with assets worth billions of ringgit.

"Felcra should in fact be assisting its settlers everywhere. But we hear more negative feedback than positive,” said Mazlan, adding that after the national level gathering, state and district level meetings will also be organised throughout the country.

Mazlan said he hoped an non-governmental organisation could be established soon to focus on the welfare of Felcra settlers.

“Before this we set up Anak for the Felda settlers. Now we want to set up an NGO for Felcra participants,” he said.
