KUALA LUMPUR: Telecommunications company Digi.com Bhd posted an after-tax profit of RM366 million on the back of RM1.44 billion in revenue for Q1 FY2019.
For the quarter, Digi which now serves 11.3 million customers in Malaysia, invested RM168 million in capital expenditure for IT and network capacity upgrades, fibre network expansion and deployment of network function virtualisation.
Its network population coverage stands at 89% for 4G and 67% for LTE, supported by 8,400km of fibre network.
The telco added 50,000 customers to its postpaid base during the quarter, with postpaid customers now numbering 2.9 million.
Postpaid average revenue per user (Arpu) stands at RM71 supported by plan upgrades and Arpu increase from existing customers.
Digi’s internet customer base, meanwhile, is at nine million with customers using 10.2GB of data each month. This drove data traffic volumes up by 51% year-on-year.
“We have focused on building a strong postpaid portfolio and made the strategic decision to shift subscriber mix and channel strategy for our prepaid business to drive growth,” said CEO Albern Murty.
Digi also declared a 4.3 sen dividend for the quarter.
During the quarter, the telco also introduced MyDigi Business to assist enterprises in managing their accounts by having multiple business lines in one place, instant customer support and a service portal.
