KUALA LUMPUR: Leading property developer Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) has been awarded the Gold Award at the 2019 Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA), the second time it won the award which recognises transparency and accountability in businesses.
The consortium was also one of four finalists for the Work Health & Safety Reporting Special Award.
ARA, which is in its 69th year, evaluates companies’ annual reports for their comprehensiveness and transparency.
“We are very honoured to have won the prestigious Gold Award for our 2017 Annual Report,” said MRCB chief corporate officer Amarjit Chhina, who accepted the award in Melbourne, Australia, yesterday.
He attributed the win to MRCB’s efforts to improve its corporate governance and transparency under its five-year “Corporate Transformation journey”.
“Today, not only has our Corporate Transformation journey translated into improved corporate sustainability, it has also strengthened MRCB’s corporate governance.”
Other winners of the Gold Award are the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, New Zealand Superannuation Fund, Audit Office of New South Wales and CLP Holdings Limited.
MRCB, the developer of Klang Valley’s transportation hub KL Sentral, is a leading urban property and construction company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. Its largest shareholder is the Employees Provident Fund.
