KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is seeking public feedback as it undertakes a holistic review of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA).
It said the exercise is part of an effort to modernise the CMSA and to promote efficiency. This, it said, would enable the capital market to remain competitive while ensuring that investors are protected.
“To that end, the SC is requesting public feedback on areas relating to product governance, disclosure, the approval process for corporate proposals and takeovers,” it said in a statement today.
The CMSA is a key legislation that regulates the Malaysian capital market.
The SC said the objective in obtaining public feedback was to ensure that the review was comprehensive as well as to complement ongoing industry engagements and focus group consultations.
“This inclusive approach will help the SC to take into consideration all issues of concern through a transparent review process. By seeking input from stakeholders across the industry, the SC can also identify potential gaps and gain valuable insights into how best to improve the CMSA,” it said.
Interested parties and members of the public are encouraged to submit their comments, feedback and queries to the SC by June 16 at [email protected].
