PETALING JAYA: Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd (HLISB) has appointed Dafinah Ahmed Hilmi as its new CEO, the company said in a statement today.
Dafinah succeeds Jasani Abdullah, who retired at the end of April after spending 10 years with the bank, including six years as its CEO.
She has 23 years of conventional and Islamic banking experience, which includes her previous role as the director of commercial banking with HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd.
Dafinah was with HSBC for a total of 19 years in various roles, ranging from global banking and markets to shariah-compliant commercial banking products.
She holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and financial management from the University of Essex, UK.
“By combining the bank’s strong digital foundation with a customer-centric approach and sustainable practices, we are well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of our customers and create long-term value for all stakeholders,” she said.
