KUALA LUMPUR: If you are a coffee enthusiast, the Malaysia Coffee Fest 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is the place to be this weekend as more than 60 local and international brands of top class coffee will be brewed to tickle your taste buds.
Its organiser, Conference and Exhibition Management Services general manager Steven Tan said coffee in Malaysia enjoyed a promising growth in recent years, mostly due to the increasing urbanisation of the country.
“This festival is mainly to bring Malaysians’ appreciation towards coffee to a higher level as the demand for the commodity is increasing every day.
“We are bringing together top class baristas, local artisan roasters, independent speciality cafes, bean suppliers and coffee equipment suppliers. We are also expecting 10,000 visitors for this three-day event,” he told reporters here today.
Steven said there would also be a Coffee Clinic, a series of workshops curated by coffee experts which would educate visitors to delve deeper into the artistry of brewing the perfect cup of coffee.
“Among the topics of the workshops are ‘Introduction to Brewing Skills,’ ‘A Basic Guide For The Home Coffee and Fundamentals of Brewing’.
“There would also be a Sensory Room, which helps visitors to exercise their senses and learn how to identify different aromas and flavours while tasting some great cups of coffee,” he said.
Other highlights of the festival are food trucks, music cafés and competitions, such as the Malaysia Open Barista Championship and Malaysia Open Latte Art Championship, he added.
