‘Star Wars’ Obi-Wan Kenobi film in the pipeline

KenobiAccording to reports, talks are at the earliest of stages and the project as yet has no writer or script, but it is known that the film will revolve around the Jedi master character who has played a central role in the George Lucas-directed prequels, which recount the origin of Vader and his betrayal of Kenobi and the Jedis (via Variety).

The Obi-Wan Kenobi stand-alone, however, is said to be just one of several projects being developed by Lucasfilm and Disney that fall outside the trilogies telling the saga of the Skywalker family, with other standalones in the running including a Jabba the Hutt story, a Boba Fett movie, and a Yoda storyline.

The news comes as the “Star Wars” Han Solo movie moves into its final stages of shooting under new director Ron Howard.

Daldry, who most recently directed episodes of Netflix’s period drama “The Crown”, has previously helmed films such as “The Hours” and “The Reader”, as well as “Billy Elliot”, which was nominated for an Academy Award.
