If you’re the kind who believes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then head over to Sungai Way, situated across from the Heineken factory along the Federal Highway.
A pretty old part of Petaling Jaya, the main road in Sungai Way has row upon row of shophouses and a few kopitiam that offer some of the best breakfast meals in the area.
Arguably, the busiest stall at the centre of Sungai Way has got to be the one selling Nasi Lemak at Wing Lee kopitiam. It is situated just before the wet market if you’re coming from the Federal Highway.
Operated by a few Chinese women, the Nasi Lemak at this little stall is always sold out by around 8ish every morning so remember to get there early.
Other than the standard hard boiled egg, deep fried anchovies, peanuts, fresh cucumber, and sambal on coconut milk rice, there are also interesting add-ons to spice up the dish, namely cuttlefish, potato, and curry chicken.
While the rice itself isn’t the most fragrant and is somewhat short on santan, the potato and curry chicken more than make up for it. Also outstanding is the texture of the cuttlefish.
Overall it is not hard to see why the Nasi Lemak at this stall sells out so early every single morning. The price is reasonable, and their version of Nasi Lemak is certainly above average.
