If you’re itching to ditch your diet and fill-up on a high-carb meal just for one day, then make your cheat day worth the effort by heading to Warisan Kafe at Avenue K.

Located at the concourse level on Avenue K, just a short walk from the KLCC LRT station, this place is not a proper “restaurant” per se although the food served here is hearty fare.

Rather, tables and chairs are arranged in an orderly fashion under a flight of stairs along the hallway, which although somewhat odd, perfectly serves the purpose of quick lunches for busy office folk.

Warisan Kafe offers five different types of Nasi Kukus or steamed rice – the usual Nasi Putih, Nasi Kukus Beras Perang, Nasi Kukus Lemak, Nasi Kukus Pandan, and Nasi Kukus Telang or blue rice that commonly used in Nasi Kerabu preparations.

The choices of curries to pair with the variety of steamed rice include their signature Spicy Fried Chicken, Beef Rendang and Lamb Mysore.

Accompanying the steamed rice and meat dishes are usually three different types of gravies, keropok (crackers), hard boiled eggs, and Sambal Belacan.

Teh Lapis Pandan and steamed tapioca are a great way to end your meal.

In addition to their signature dishes, Warisan Kafe also serves Mee Kuah, Laksa, Bubur, and even Roti Jala.

For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert offerings are either steamed tapioca or sweet porridge (bubur manis).

The quality of food here is certainly above average and the cafe presents itself as a serious enough spot for lunch, especially in a shopping mall environment.

With drinks, a meal can cost almost RM20, although you still can have a satisfying meal on a slightly smaller budget.
