The actress has launched two eyeshadow palettes, which she dropped over the weekend via her brand Filthy Fags‘s website. According to an Instagram update she posted to her 18 million followers, the palettes sold out almost immediately.
The palettes, dubbed ‘South Beach’ and ‘Ocean Drive’, each contain nine vibrant, glittery and matte eyeshadow hues, ranging from sky blue to scarlet. Both palettes are cruelty-free, and will retail for $60 and $50 respectively.
Thorne first dropped hints about a potential cosmetics project back in March, when she replied to a fan’s comment on one of her Instagram selfies with the news that her lipstick was, in fact, from her “upcoming makeup line.”
However, the launch has not been completely hassle-free. As first noted by Cosmopolitan, multiple online commentators have drawn parallels between Thorne’s palettes and two similar-looking products from the beauty brand Juvia’s Place.
“Yes we are aware of the painful and awkward similarities,” a representative from Juvia’s Place told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s obvious they have done little to no research or they have bluntly stolen our concept which is unacceptable.”
Thorne is the latest in a growing group of female stars putting their name to cosmetics ventures. Celebrities who have launched beauty collaborations or brands in the past year include Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez and Gigi Hadid.
