B & Best makes waves with their seafood noodle selections

If you’re a big fan of fish and seafood noodles, you’ll be pleased to know that B & Best Restaurant in Taman Rasa Sayang in SS4, Petaling Jaya, serves up some of the most delicious, instantly satisfying hawker fare you could ask for.

What’s your pleasure? There are prawns, Red Snapper, Grouper and fish balls to choose from, and noodles prepared either dry, soup, or spiced-up.

As there are only a couple of restaurants in the two rows of shoplots here, finding a parking spot is not a problem at all.

The restaurant is basically a rather big kopitiam with the stall specialising in seafood noodles being the lone operator for breakfast and lunch.

But don’t despair… there are choices galore over here. You can either pick one seafood or a combination of prawns (two types), fish (choose from Pomfret, Red Snapper, Grouper, and more), lala, oysters, fish balls, and fish cake.

The stall also serves noodles, mee hoon (rice vermicelli), kuey teow, lou she fun, mee shua, and porridge.

And of course, you can have it prepared either as kon lou (dry), soup, or spicy.

The seafood, especially the fish meat, is fresh and succulent. There is also plenty of lala in the mix. Though truly flavourful, the prawns however could have been bigger. Over all, this stall puts out a very good bowl of seafood noodles, with fresh ingredients which are not too overwhelming in taste. Perfect for breakfast or brunch.

The sambal that accompanied the dish is outstanding.

The only condiment served with the seafood noodles is sambal belacan and this is simply outstanding.

It is actually quite difficult to find this particular type of no-nonsense, classic-style sambal belacan, with only the basic ingredients of red chilli, belacan, and a squeeze of lime.

The total price of a meal for three consisting of a standard bowl of noodles with two prawns, Red Snapper fish soup, dry lou she fun, seafood noodles with no shellfish, and one order of fish cake, together with drinks, will come to under RM20 per person.

It must be said however, that the fish cake here is rather ordinary and other places do serve it better.

B & Best Seafood is located at SS4 in Petaling Jaya.

Though a little on the pricier side, this place is worth every ringgit. If you are a die-hard seafood noodles fan, you wouldn’t even think twice.
