Melt-in-your-mouth Nasi Briyani in Bukit Bintang

The lamb shank masala is a must-try.

Restoran Beriyani Asif is located on the ground floor of a less than glamorous five-storey residential block of flats behind the Fahrenheit 88 shopping mall in Bukit Bintang, facing the DBKL medan selera (food court).

Parking can be quite a challenge in this particular area, but not a huge issue if you are capable of side-parking your car in tight spots.

The restaurant is rather well set up and nicely decorated considering the location it is in. It is also air conditioned and rather clean, always plus points with lunch-goers out for a quick bite in KL’s sweltering heat.

Asif serves traditional Pakistani cuisine, and while Nasi Briyani is their main offering, the menu is actually quite extensive with other equally tantalising dishes.

Take for instance their version of Lamb Shank Masala. This is a definite must order when you’re here. You get a whole shank perfectly prepared and so tender the meat falls off the bone when you scrap it with a spoon.

It is absolutely awesome when enjoyed with their long-grained Nasi Briyani or Naan.

Chicken Masala, Garlic Cheese Naan, Palak Paneer, and Grilled Lamb Chops.

The Chicken Masala here is pretty good as well. And the Naan they serve here tastes almost like the crust of a superior middle-eastern kind of pizza – truly delicious.

Traditional North Indian dishes are also on the menu here. Do try their Palak Paneer – a dish of cottage cheese in mashed spinach. It is so good, you can eat it all day long and never ask for anything more.

Their grilled lamb chops, slightly charred on the outside yet juicy within, is also perfectly executed.

While Asif’s Nasi Briyani may be priced on the higher side for this location, the food quality here is top notch and service, more than decent.

Give it a try, you won’t leave disappointed.
