Nothing quite beats a dish of Lor Mai Kai (glutinous chicken rice) when you want a quick and wholesome breakfast on a busy workday week.
It is served to you in under a minute, and usually fills you up nice and good till lunchtime. You can also “tapao” it and eat it on the go without much fuss.
Then there’s Otak-otak, or to be more specific, Penang-style Otak-otak. If you’re from Penang, you probably prefer this over all other versions of Otak-otak.
This particular hawker fare is fragrant, soft, and very easy to eat. The combination of fish, egg, coconut milk, and betel leaves works in harmony in this dish to create a taste that is unmistakably Nyonya in its origin. Simply love it.
Yong Len Kopitiam in Taman Tun Dr Ismail happens to have a stall that offers both these dishes in the morning, and both are some of the best this part of Kuala Lumpur.
The Lor Mai Kai is comparable with the much-loved one at Redang Island, and the Otak-otak is as good as any in Penang.
You can also find one of the best Penang Prawn Mee in this very same kopitiam.
So if you’re ever in need of a quick, hearty and delicious breakfast, head to Yong Len Kopitiam.
